Update on Marina Works

You will be aware that various improvement works are either underway or due to commence over the autumn period.

New Road

We are continuing to work with our engineers in the design and construction of a new access road bringing traffic directly into the centre (between Paul Mathews and the new hard standing) from Ferry Road. Our engineers are hoping to have drawings out to tender in October with a projected start on site in January.

Café

Our outgoing tenant, David Boarer, has almost completed his removal of the old café and our own contractors are due to start site preparation within the next few days. We now have planning consent and it is our intention to have the new café facility open for business early June.

Office extension

The extension to the marina offices is now well underway and we anticipate having the timber frame in place by the end of October. Work will continue, in tandem with the café, over the autumn.

Unit 2B

This unit has been occupied by Dutton Marine/Hacker Engineering for the past fifteen years. By mutual agreement Tim Dutton has completed his move to a new facility in Arun Shipyard. Surveyors have been instructed to oversee the complete refurbishment of these premises into three separate units to let. Work is due to start on Monday 15th October.

New Dry Stack

It had been our intention to close our boat parks next spring and to replace them with a new dry stack facility. Owing to the volume of work now being undertaken I have made the decision to delay these works until the autumn of 2008. We continue to work with our engineers to have all necessary consents put into place.

Generally

The Littlehampton Marina Berth Holders Association (L.M.B.H.A) with whom we meet monthly with are kept up to date on all of these matters.
